CDC: How to Survive a Zombie Apocalypse

Costumed actors, promoting the Halloween premiere of the AMC television series "The Walking Dead", shamble along the Brooklyn Bridge while posing for pictures in New York, Tuesday, Oct. 26, 2010.
The CDC has issued a warning to help citizens prepare for a life-or-death emergency. And that includes a takeover by zombies.

The warning appeared on the CDC's "Emergency Preparedness and Response" blog this week.

It cites the rise of zombies in pop culture as raising the possiblity of a real zombie apolocalpyse but goes on to provide real tips to deal with a real natural disaster, like stocking up on food, water, and supplies.

The tongue-in-cheek warning went viral on social media sites, causing a portion of the CDC website to crash Thursday.

CDC doctors say they were trying to reach the younger, tech-savvy demographic that's usually hard to capture.
