The CDC has issued a warning to help citizens prepare for a life-or-death emergency. And that includes a takeover by zombies.

The warning appeared on the CDC's "Emergency Preparedness and Response" blog this week.

It cites the rise of zombies in pop culture as raising the possiblity of a real zombie apolocalpyse but goes on to provide real tips to deal with a real natural disaster, like stocking up on food, water, and supplies.

The tongue-in-cheek warning went viral on social media sites, causing a portion of the CDC website to crash Thursday.

CDC doctors say they were trying to reach the younger, tech-savvy demographic that's usually hard to capture.

President Lee Myung-bak ordered officials to make sure that the firing wouldn't escalate, according to Yonhap, quoting a presidential official. YTN said between 1,200 and 1,300 people live on the island, citing an island resident.

A South Korean Joint Chiefs of Staff official said dozens of rounds of artillery landed on the island and in the sea. The official says South Korea fired back. The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because of JCS rules, said South Korea's military is on alert. He had no other details, and could not confirm the reports of casualties.

The firing comes amid tension over North Korea's claim that it has a new uranium enrichment facility and just over a month after North Korean leader Kim Jong Il unveiled his youngest son Kim Jong Un as his heir apparent.

Tensions between the two Koreas also remain tense after the sinking in March of a South Korean warship in which 46 sailors died. Seoul has blamed a North Korean torpedo, while Pyongyang has denied any responsibility.

The countries' western maritime boundary has long been a flash point between the two Koreas. The North does not recognize the border that was unilaterally drawn by the United Nations at the close of the 1950-53 Korean War.

North and South Korea have fought three bloody skirmishes near the maritime border in recent years, most recently in November 2009.

M MISSING CHIEF’S PROFILE SHEET. Petty Officers First Class must include a copy of their JAN 2010 Chief’s Exam Profile Sheet (EPS) as proof of board eligibility. To be eligible, your EPS should indicate SEL BD Eligible, LDO SEL BD Eligible, Pass, etc. If you were exempted for the exam by NAVADMIN due to service in Iraq or Afghanistan, or the Horn of Africa, this should be addressed in the waiver request section on page 8, block 3, with CO verification in the page 10 narrative.

W WAIVER HAS BEEN REQUESTED BY APPLICANT. Requesting a waiver does NOT guarantee eligibility before the board. In early December the LDO/CWO Officer Community Manager (OCM) will determine waiver status. Monitor BOL to see if the code changes from W to A (which would indicate waiver approved) or if another change has occurred, such as a requested designator is removed which would indicate waiver disapproval. If your record shows an NE on BOL you have been found ineligible for the Board, a common occurrence for members requesting a waiver over the upper TIS limits by over six months or more. Hunt for dog-baiting thug caught on camera savagely kicking his pet

This is the moment a thug lashed out at his cowering pet, kicking the poor animal repeatedly and yanking it off the ground with savage pulls of its lead.

The shocking scenes were posted on YouTube by the RSPCA as part of its appeal to identify the hooded owner and rescue the dog from further abuse.

The video, captured by a passerby on October 1 and posted on the website over the weekend, shows the man launching his savage attack after the animal attempts to sit down as they cross an open area in Knee Hill Park, near Woolwich, South-East London.

He kicks the animal repeatedly - with one blow so forceful that it knocks the dog over, onto its back - and violently yanks the lead several times, causing the dog to twist and turn as it attempts to escape further pain. The man, thought to be aged between 18 and 22, is tall and slim, and wearing a grey hooded top, faded jeans and trainers.

The shocking scenes have provoked outraged comments from animal-lovers on YouTube and internet forums, with one viewer describing the owner as 'sub-human' and another saying: 'I hate people with a passion that abuse or neglect animals. I hope he can be identified and punished... This looks like just a pup even, poor thing.'

The dog, which has the appearance of a lurcher cross, is small and tan. RSPCA inspector Vicky Dawe said: 'Poor thing, it looks so sad and terrified. We need to find him so we can stop this dog suffering any more cruelty like this. Please get in touch with us if you recognise this person, it will prevent this dog from suffering like this again.'
